A Letter From Our Chair And Co-Chair

YOUTH AND TEENS DAY LETTER

Greetings,

We are so excited that we will have a virtual Youth & Teens Day along with other activities despite COVID-19. Yes, COVID-19 couldn’t keep the Youth and Teens from showing how we still RISE regardless of everything we have gone through this year! Our theme for this year is “#We Matter, #We Rise”. The Scripture that supports our theme is Romans 8:18, which states: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (NIV).

Through this year’s theme, we can ensure that we convey the message the Lord is beginning to show to us. That is, “we matter” and we will make it through these times with His continued love, grace, mercy, and strength. He is also letting us know that He is not dead but very much alive, so continue to trust Him totally and lean not unto our own understanding but acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths.

We know that the Youth & Teens Day events are out of the ordinary this year, but we are still going to “Rise” to the occasion by planning events that we hope all will find pleasing and enjoyable. We have planned the following events:

• Sunday, July 12 - We’re excited to have our second Teen Forum via zoom with Pastor Jackson; teens will get more in depth with questions concerning the current climate of our country and answers from our pastor from a spiritual aspect.

Youth & Teens weekend

• Friday, July 24 - We will have a virtual “Paint and Sit” class for the youth. We encourage all youth to tune in online and show their creativity!

• Saturday, July 25 - Two events will be held. Saturday morning, we will host our virtual “#IMatter” Forum, which will feature a panel of several community members. We hope to have a conversation with the goal of educating our peers about the current social climate. We will have professionals from various career fields to help us understand and navigate our thoughts and feelings.

• Saturday, July 25 – We will sponsor a Drive- In Movie Night. Teens, start looking out for registration because we will host a Drive-In Movie Night in the church parking lot, which will be mapped out to allow us to enjoy a nice socially distanced event.

• Sunday, July 26 - We will end the weekend by inviting the community out to our Third Annual Jerome “Deuce” Nesbitt Blood Drive.

• Sunday, July 26 - In conjunction with the blood drive, we will host a Voter Registration Drive to encourage our community to make sure our voices are heard in the November elections.

• Sunday, August 9 – We will celebrate a virtual Youth & Teens Day worship service. The service will highlight all the things our youth and teens have accomplished this year.

We can’t wait for all of you to join us!

Thank you,

Jaylen Nesbitt and Dallas Bess
