Brookland Baptist Church Scholarship Application 2024

 

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND PARENTS 

APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AWARDS 

 

       HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO PLAN TO ENROLL IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING IN THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY BASED UPON DATA LISTED BELOW. 



Eligibility is as follows:   

  1. Applicants must be members of the church in the last three (3) consecutive years at the time of application. Students, who are not members, but have "grown up” in Brookland Baptist Church within the last ten (10) consecutive years,” are also eligible to apply.   
  2. Applicants must submit all required documentation: application, typed essay, copy of high school transcript, and copy of SAT or ACT score. 
  3. Applicants must be high school graduates in the current academic year.   
  4. Applicants must complete the online application and upload transcript, SAT or ACT score and essay by April 30, 2024 by 5:00 PM.  To upload attachments, first, scan them into a single file.  Then upload the file.

 

Criteria for selection include:   

  1. Scholastic ability: Submit copies of SAT or ACT scores (if available) and high school transcripts with your application.   
  2. Typed essay: Theme: "How the Church Worship Experience and Support Ministries Have Impacted My Life"  
    The essay must be double spaced on a single (1) sheet of paper and it should incorporate the roles of education and church in your life.  The essay must demonstrate clarity, coherence, proper grammar usage, mechanics, adherence to the theme, and enough details to develop the concept.

Please type a well-organized essay on the theme, “How the Church Worship Experience and Support Ministries Have Impacted My Life.”

On a separate sheet of paper (8 ½ x 11) please type a well-organized essay on the theme above.  Applicants should cite personal examples of their participation in church sponsored events, academic and Christian education programs, auxiliaries, ministries, etc. to develop the theme.  Essays will be evaluated according to these categories: grammar usage and mechanics, clarity and coherence, adherence to theme, and inclusion of adequate details.    

  

THE ESSAY MUST BE TYPEWRITTEN, 11 POINT FONT (Arial or Times New Roman), DOUBLE-SPACED ON A SINGLE PAGE AND BETWEEN 200 – 300 WORDS ON THE IMPACT OF THE CHURCH WORSHIP EXPERIENCE AND SUPPORT MINISTRIES IN YOUR LIFE.  Margins should be 1-inch on all sides (top, bottom and sides).
